International Airports

There are many international airports in Thailand within comfortable traveling distance to the event venue, including Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK), Don Mueang International Airport (DMK) and Hat Yai International Airport (HDY).

Suvarnabhumi International Airport Bangkok (BKK) is the main air gateway into Thailand. It serves more than 50 international airlines.

Penang International Airport (PEN) stands out as the most convenient and closest airport, located just 120 kilometers away from Betong. Enhance your travel experience by considering flights through Phuket-Penang, Singapore-Penang, or Kuala Lumpur-Penang.

From Bangkok to Betong

There are four ways to travel from Bangkok to Betong: by plane, car, bus, or train.

  1. By Plane :

Hat Yai International Airport (HDY) in Songkhla Province, Thailand offers more frequent flights from Bangkok with a travel time of about 1 hour and 30 minutes. From Hat Yai, you can take a taxi or van to Betong (approximately 5 hours). For a more convenient option, consider shuttle services offered by the event's official transportation provider, "Run Explore."

Narathiwat Airport (NAW) in Narathiwat Province, Thailand has flights operated by Air Asia. However, there is no public transportation to Betong from this airport. Renting a vehicle is your best option in this case.

Penang or Pulau Pinang is a Malaysian state located 120 km or 2 hours driving to Betong. Penang International Airport (PEN) is a hub for Malaysian low-cost carriers like AirAsia and Firefly. Please check whether you need a Malaysia visa before selecting this transportation mode. You may also need a multiple-entry visa if you plan to return via Malaysia. Please note that driving cross-border between Malaysia-Thailand required vehicle ownership document. "Run Explore," the event's official transportation provider, now offers shuttle service from Penang. You can find the schedule here.

  1. By Car : Traveling by car from Bangkok to Betong takes about 17 hours, 1,200 kilometers.

  1. By Train :

While there isn't a direct train route to Betong, you can take a train from Bangkok to a nearby city and then connect to Betong via taxi or rental car. Here are your options:

Hat Yai, Songkhla Province: This is the most common option. Trains from Bangkok arrive at Hat Yai Station (HDY). From there, you can take a taxi or van to Betong (approximately 5 hours). Yala Province: There are also trains that travel to Yala Station. However, this route might take longer and have fewer train options compared to Hat Yai. From Yala Station, you'll need to take a taxi or rent a vehicle to continue to Betong.
